La llegada de la Guardia Civil a Antequera a principios del año 1845 supuso para toda la comarca, sacarla del ostracismo económico en la que se hallaba inmersa por el bandidaje que asolaba aquellas tierras y que había instalado su ley a través de robos, extorsiones, asesinatos, secuestros y todo un elenco de delitos, a cuál de ellos más grave, hasta tal punto que las personas hacían testamento cuando iniciaban viaje, ya que no tenían la certeza de volver con vida. Esta situación la Guardia Civil la recondujo en apenas dos años, dando seguridad y tranquilidad a toda la comarca y, por extensión, a toda la provincia de Málaga. El autor, de la mano de personajes reales, nos lleva a descubrir al guerrillero D. Francisco Roa Rodríguez de Tordecillas, nacido en Antequera, de profesión escribano. Sus hazañas en la lucha contra el francés se perdieron en el preterir de la historia, unas por envidia y otras por matices políticos que rodearon aquella época.Esta novela es un intento de darlo a conocer y rendirle el homenaje que se merece, ya que en vida no se le reconoció, hasta tal punto que murió en la más extrema pobreza por haber empeñado en la lucha todos sus capitales.
