Las epidemias, los pontones, el apoyo inglés con sus tropas y sus navíos, la Cádiz de las murallas en la Cortadura del Arrecife y la plaza de la Cruz de la Verdad, la Ysla de los Molinos de Mareas, de Punta Cantera y las «fuerzas sutiles», y aquella Chiclana sin hombres, con mujeres, ancianos y niños, los héroes invisibles de la guerra contra el ejército de Napoleón. Los hechos, lugares y personajes se van entrelazando para llegar al momento donde todo es lo que parece, pero nada es la realidad.
