Gegenwärtig ist es die Politik des Staates und der staatlichen Erdölgesellschaft Ecuadors, in die Sanierungs- und Entschädigungsarbeiten in den von der Verschmutzung betroffenen Vierteln einzugreifen, was in diesem Projekt kurz und detailliert beschrieben wird, wobei die Ziele der durchgeführten Sozial-, Gesundheits-, Bürgerwohlfahrts- und Entschädigungsarbeiten berücksichtigt werden. Ziel der Studie ist es, die sozialen Entschädigungsarbeiten für die Umweltverschmutzung in den Vierteln rund um die Raffinerie Esmeraldas zu analysieren, die in den letzten Jahren von der REE und den nationalen Regierungsstellen durchgeführt wurden.
