El inocente narra la historia de un adulterio protagonizado por Tullio Hermil, un joven aristócrata italiano, refinado y libertino que, abrumado por una carga sensual incontrolable, profesa continuas humillaciones y sufrimientos a su bella esposa Giuliana, traicionándola con hermosas mujeres, entre ellas, algunas de sus mejores amigas.
