'Hou Long Xu Yi Shi ' is a collection of stories about the people and ambience at a poor corner in the south part of Beijing around and after 1950s. The book reproduced the common life of the impecunious people who crowded in the narrow alleys(hutong)and multi-family courtyards(dazayuan), as well as their misfortune in the political movements. These stories reflect my hard feeling, sympathy, and strong nostalgia. The stories in the book are a true illustration of history. The readers will find themselves crossing space-time and landing in a special coordinate system. Among these laborers, each of them was just like a small boat floating on the sea wobbly, some even struggled under the water.
